Visa time!

So I now have my American Visa!  :)
I went down to London with my Dad for a couple of days to have my Visa interview. We travelled down on the train on the Tuesday afternoon and after navigating the underground like pro's ("we need the light blue line going towards the North..."), we found our hotel which was really nice! We quickly dropped off our bags and headed back out to catch a show. When we got to Leicester Square we decided to watch the Phantom of the Opera because we had both always wanted to see it. We bought the tickets at the theatre, got some tea then headed back to watch the show!

The Phantom of the Opera was amazing! So glad we watched it! After the show we had a few drinks in a bar in Leicester Square before heading back to the hotel for an early start for my embassy appointment in the morning.

On the Wednesday morning we were up early to head out to the American Embassy, and of course it was pouring down! After a bit of help from google maps we found the embassy and I went to get some spare passport photo's done in case the digital photo that I had uploaded to the website wasn't right. Then I went to queue up outside the embassy.

We had to queue up on the street in front of the embassy and have my paperwork checked by staff, then queue some more and have my paperwork checked again by a security person. This is where my Dad had to leave the queue because only the person applying for the visa is allowed into the embassy. Then I had to go through a security hut. It reminded me of airport security inside, lots of security guards and we had to walk through a metal detector type thing while our bags went through a scanner. After this I was inside the gates of the embassy and had to walk round to the visa entrance, walking past lots of armed security men. It was all very strict!

When I got inside I had to show my paperwork again to the receptionist who gave me a number and told me to take a seat in the next room to wait for my number to be called. The waiting room was huge and was very, very busy. I managed to find a seat and sat waiting for my number to be called/show up on the screen. You are not allowed to take your phone, i-pod, camera or anything electrical at all inside the embassy so it was a bit boring waiting. I did take a book in with me but I was scared of missing my number on the screen if I read it! After a while my number was called and I was asked to go to window 5. Here I was asked for my paperwork and passport for the final time and was then told to take a seat again to wait for my number to be called for my interview.

This was a longer wait but not as long as I was expecting as I had heard of some people being there for 5 or 6 hours! This time I was called to window 20. Even though I knew there was no reason for them to reject my visa I was still nervous walking to the window! When I got there the man was really friendly and asked me what role I had been given at Disney. Then he asked what I was studying in the UK and what I planned to do when I got home. The he simply said 'that's great, I've approved your visa. Say hello to Mickey for me!' And that was it, after all the waiting and worrying about the interview it lasted no longer than 60seconds and my visa was approved! I organised my passport delivery and left the embassy, I couldn't believe how easy it was! I arrived at the embassy at 10.15 and was out by 12.00.

Because I was finished so early at the embassy, we decided to watch another show as out train home was only later on that night. We made our way back to Leicester Square and decided to watch Les Miserables. We had both seen Les Miserables before but both really love it so we wanted to watch it again!

Les Miserables was fantastic again! I could watch it over and over and never get bored! We still had some time to spare so we did the tourist thing and visited almost all of the London landmarks in an afternoon!

So in just over 24 hours we had watched 2 musicals, had a visa interview at the American Embassy and visited the majority of the major London landmarks!  I really enjoyed it, thanks Dad! :)

Disney Birthday!

On Friday 13th April I finally turned 21! And of course everything was Disney! I woke up to find a giant Minnie Mouse balloon smiling at me :)

Minnie Mouse Balloon!

I got some amazing presents from my Mum, Dad and brother including my very own Minnie Mouse teddy! She is coming with me to Florida!

Minnie Mouse

Minnie Mouse :)

All of my family and friends came round for drinks to celebrate! Thank you so much to my family and friends who helped to make my birthday really special and thank you so much for all of the lovely gifts, cards and money :)

Even my birthday cake had Minnie ears!
I had an amazing night with my family and friends and because I am going to Florida (and I am a little bit mad about Disney!) we all wore Minnie Mouse ears!

Me and my friends then got on the disco bus into town, don't think I've ever laughed as much! And we got a few funny looks... and free drinks with our Minnie ears on!

A Disney day in Liverpool

Yesterday I went to Liverpool with some of the other Disney people from the NorthWest! We had planned to meet up in Wetherspoon's near the train station, but when I got there the whole pub seemed to be full of Liverpool fans! So I posted on the facebook group for the meet and Vicky told me where they were sat so I didn't have to wonder around asking people if they were there for the Disney meet!

Everyone was so friendly and it was great to meet other people who are as excited as I am about going to Disney! More and more people came and soon we had sort of taken over a corner of the pub, I think there was around 20-25 people there altogether. We did get some funny looks when we went round the table each saying our names and our roles!

After Wetherspoon's we went onto another couple of bars and, as the weather was gorgeous, ended up in a beer garden discussing everything Disney! I was glad to find someone else who is on my flight :) Talking about Disney with everyone made it seem so much more real and I'm more excited than ever to head out to Florida because everyone was so friendly! I think another meet up is being planned and I can't wait to see everyone again :)

Disney Welcome Pack!

Yey! My Disney welcome pack arrived in the post today! I've been waiting for this for ages, checking the post everyday and it's finally here!

It arrived with my CRB that said 'Name of Employer: Walt Disney World' (needless to say I got very excited about seeing this!)

In the pack is my official offer letter from Walt Disney World, my visa documents as a very fancy booklet outlining the 'Disney Look'.

Once I had read through the pack, I was straight on the phone to book my visa appointment in London as I now have all of the documents that I need. The man on the phone was very friendly and said that most of the calls he had answered that day were from people booking appointments for a visa to work at Disney :) So $140 later, and I've booked my appointment for 18th April at 10.30am which means a trip to London for a couple of days with my Dad to get my visa!

Next Saturday I am meeting up with some fellow summer 2012 Disney cast members in Liverpool (meeting at the Disney shop, of course!) so we can all get to know each other before we head out there. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone!

E-mail from Mickey!

My welcome e-mail from Disney came today and I got far too excited to see Mickey Mouse at the top of the e-mail!
This is the first official e-mail from Disney as the previous ones have been sent through Yummy Jobs. The e-mail confirmed my program dates and role in Merchandise as well as my applicant number to log onto the Disney International Programs 'On Boarding' website. This site has information on just about everything we need to know about the program from arriving in Florida to the 'Disney Look', it's all very exciting!

Hoodies and Facebook groups

Hi everyone! Thought I'd update with what's been happening with all things Disney!

I forgot to mention in my first post about the WDW ICP 2012 UK facebook group, this is a group (as the name suggests!) for all the Disney ICP cast members who are going  this summer to get to know each other and talk about everything Disney! It's great to see so many people who are as mad about Disney as I am! :)
I have found this group so useful and have already found 10 people who are on my flight (we now have our own group for our flight) so I can get to know everyone before I go. :)

It was through this group that I found out about ordering a Disney cast member hoodie. There were so many different colours to choose from but I decided on Dark Navy and from everyone's posts it looks like it was the colour quite a lot of people went for! This is what will be on the front of it, with my name and role on the back! I'll post a photo of it when it arrives :)

Apparently our Disney welcome e-mails are due to arrive any day!

I'm going to Disney!!

I will be keeping a diary/blog of my time in Florida on the Disney International College Program and the run up/ preparation to what will be the best summer ever! I'll try to update it as much as I can and post as many photo's when I'm there :) So here it goes...

On 29th November 2011, after a few nervous weeks, I received the E-mail offering me a place on Disney's Summer Work Experience 2012! I don't think I have ever been more excited, I really couldn't believe it! The E-mail explained that my role in the show would be in merchandise and that I would be starting on 5th June 2012 and I replied straight away to accept the offer. My family were just as excited as I was when I told them the news and they bought me the Now That's What I Call Disney! album that I have listened to 1000 times already! I couldn't wait to tell everyone and it is pretty much all I talk about now!

After accepting my place on the Disney ICP, the next step towards working at Disney was to fill in the CRB form which was simple enough. Then I started to look at flights and decided to get a direct flight from Manchester to Orlando so I didn't have the hassle of stopovers and changing flights. On 2nd January 2012 I booked my flights leaving from Manchester at 11.00 on 5th of June with Virgin (I'll get a cool little TV on the back of the seat!) and have booked my return flight a couple of weeks after my last day with Disney so I can either travel or have an extra holiday in Florida!

The next step is to book my Visa appointment at the US Embassy in London, but I can't do that until I have received my Disney information pack which should arrive sometime in February. So until then all I can do is get even more excited and count down the days!
